The Art Department’s activity for ACE week 2015 was titled ‘Sense of Space’, students in years 7-9 were involved. For this week we took inspiration from our trip to the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, which was curated by the artist Michael Craig-Martin who is known for his graphic depictions of everyday objects in bright colours. The group had the task of producing a mural for the Science corridor; this resulted in the theme of Cabinet of Curiosities. We aimed to display an array of scientific specimens both real and imagined in the salon style hanging of the summer exhibition. The colours used in the mural are similar to the palette of Michael Craig-Martin.
